Many years ago, I heard about an experiment that was conducted on infants in an orphanage. All of the infants were bathed, fed, had their diapers changed, and received proper medical attention. But the experimenters divided the infants into two groups: while all of them received basic routine care, half of the babies were rocked, held, talked to, sung to, and stroked lovingly. The other half of the babies were left alone in their cribs and were only acknowledged when they needed to be fed, changed, bathed, or given medical care. The babies who received tender, loving care thrived. The babies who were basically ignored declined in health and growth, and most, if not all, DIED.
I have searched the internet to find a report on this experiment. It was done a long time ago – probably in the early 1900′s.
CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP ME FIND THE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS EXPERIMENT?
